Run S.M.A.R.T. Athlete Wins Triathlon

Run S.M.A.R.T. Project coach Vince Sherry has been working with a young up 'n comer in the triathlete world, Brian Astell. Recently, Brian competed in an XTERRA USA Championship Series Race in California and took a home a huge victory.

Astell was first overall by 2 minutes in The Real Mountain Bike Triathlon. You can view the complete results here.

We'll be posting pictures and post-race comments shortly.

Just wanted to add a quick note. Brian has been putting in huge volume on the bike. He has only been running easy mileage with a few strides mixed in each week. Brian put over a minute on second place in the running portion of the race. This is another testament of what a good base can do for you. Brian is shifting to more of a running focus now. Keep an eye out for him; he's only going to get stronger.
