Run SMART client KC Cohen set a new 15k PR this past weekend at the New York Road Runner’s Ted Corbitt 15k in Central Park. KC finished in 1:08:12 (7:20 per mile), 31 seconds faster than her previous best for this distance set back in 2005! [Full Results]
“KC is just getting back to normal training after a little post-Chicago Marathon break.,” said her coach Brian Rosetti. “This was a nice bonus considering we were only looking for a long steady effort to prepare for the Manhattan Half next month. Run SMART coach Brian Rosetti offered up some important last minute marathon tips for the New York City Marathon at DNAinfo.com. Proper rest, nutrition, warm-up, settling nerves, etc. were just some of the topics covered.

Take a few days off completely this week, said Rosetti, and limit your running to a two or three mile run at your goal pace or a little faster on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Run SMART client KC Cohen ran 1:39:04 (7:33 per mile) at the Brooklyn Half Marathon this past weekend (results). In only her second race since major ankle surgery last year, KC ran three minutes and forty-seven seconds faster than her last half marathon two years ago!
KC’s coach was impressed… “It’s only been about six weeks since I started incorporating quality sessions into KC’s weekly schedules. She’s only gotten up to 10 miles in one run twice since her surgery so this was very encouraging. I expect big improvements to come over the next several months – she’s just getting started,” said her coach, Brian Rosetti. (more…)

“KC had major ankle surgery last March so when she signed up for coaching I cut her training back to spend more time strengthening her ankle and cross training,” said her coach Brian Rosetti. “She’s showed a lot of patience and resilience coming back from a very difficult situation and it’s starting to pay off.”

Marathon Examiner Kimberly Bogin covered the Run SMART Training Plans on Examiner.com.
Looking to create something that everyone could afford, Rosetti and Sherry got the idea to offer race training plans. But unlike other training plans available online, The Run S.M.A.R.T. Project plans would be customized for each individual runner, and based on the original schedules and formulas developed by Jack Daniels.
“Jack had filing cabinets at his house full of schedules,” said Sherry. “He pulled out Jim Ryun’s training schedule from the 1960s and showed it to me. Every single day. Every workout. Every split.” (more…)
